He was born in Athens and moved to Heraklion, Crete, where he now lives and works. Giannis Zografakis was raised in an environment filled with artistic inspiration. His father was the well-known director, writer and screenwriter Stelios Zografakis, who had a successful career in the cinema and was honored with two international awards. His mother is Harikleia Kosmathaki Zografaki, painter and researcher with a remarkable painting career in and outside Greece, and also with significant presence in the scientific world, with works that can be found in the National Library, the University of Rethymnon’s Library, and in the Vikeleia Library of Heraklion. Likewise, he received spiritual and artistic inspiration from his extended family environment. The well-known and remarkable painter Alexander Dialetis was his uncle and likewise, the well-known painter, who had significant artistic presence in the international art world, Eugnomon Dialetis. Within this artistic climate, the considerable and natural talent of Giannis Zografakis had the proper environment to develop. His study of art began during his youth. He studied art at the studio of E. Dialetis and when he finished his middle training, he studied Art History and Archeology at Southeastern College in Athens. Yet his first significant appearance in the art world was accomplished before he completed his studies at the university. At the young age of 19, he held his first personal exhibition at the "Art Exhibition" in Athens where he received many good critiques and commendations. At the same time he has published his poetic collection "Oneira (Dreams)" and realized a well-known presence in the literary realm, within the framework of first-rate critics. A career filled with hope and promise is opening before him. Giannis Zografakis continues his creative artistic efforts with confident and strong strides. He works hard with consistency and is rewarded with success every time he presents his works in either group or individual exhibitions. The artistic work of Giannis is special and charms you with the dynamic colors and the expressionism of the message. The Art Historian Dimitra Sarri writes in one of her critiques about his work, among others: "The aesthetic, substantive and dynamic color is the crown of the artistic work of Giannis Zografakis. His work, juicy and vibrant, expresses emotional situations that connect with every category of his energy." "The art of Giannis Zografakis conveys an expressive wealth from his paintings which is conveyed to the viewer."
